About Gregory A. Pistone

Dr. Pistone is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was presented with the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Award.  He earned his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA.  During his time there, he worked in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and performed research involving the skin’s sensory receptors as well as studies on ways to improve the survival of skin grafts and flaps. After completing an Internship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, he completed his dermatologic training at the Temple University Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Pistone has operated a successful private practice since 1984, with offices and state of the art surgical center located in the greater Philadelphia area.  He has served as Chief of Dermatology within the Thomas Jefferson University Health System and is currently on the faculty of both Thomas Jefferson and Drexel University Schools of Medicine, where he teaches physicians-in-training about hair transplantation.

Dr. Pistone is a pioneer in the fields of dermatology and hair restoration.  The contributions Dr. Pistone has made in the field of hair transplantation as well as exhibiting excellence in patient care earned him the honor of being peer-selected as one of the "Top Plastic Surgeons" for Philadelphia Magazine.  He has been featured in countless newspaper and magazine articles and has made numerous television and radio appearances educating the public about the art and science of hair restoration.  As one of only a small percentage of hair transplantation specialists qualified to successfully perform Follicular Unit Transplantation, Dr. Pistone has been honing, refining and perfecting the scientific and artistic techniques essential to recreating soft, natural, living hairlines.  The final result is the patient’s own hair re-growing along the natural hairline.   This technique is indeed a breakthrough for men and women experiencing hair loss.
